Our History
On July 2004 the Boy Scouts introduced a new Community Service Award. One of the several organizations that were eligible to receive this award was Lions Club International.  Upon discovering that the award had no formal requirements for his fellow Lions-Scouting members, Lion Andy Anderson of the Elk Grove Lions Club, CA. set about the five year process it took to offer this award.  In 2005, during the BSA National Convention Dennis Weiss of the Galt Lions Club, CA. met Lion Vince Lipinski of the Lions Club of Berkeley CA ., who found that each other were working on the same Scouting Service Award approval process.  The three Lions joined forces and together spent the remaining 4 years working on getting the approvals, developing the requirements, and arranging for the designing of the metal each recipient would receive.
